(More customer reviews)We've used Deer-Off for several seasons in our garden in a rural area of southern Wisconsin.It really does prevent deer from sampling our garden and keeps racoons from digging up newly planted plants.It's pretty stinky, so you need to use a little care when mixing and applying.It washes off clothing and hands readily.

You'll need to re-apply Deer-Off periodically, particularly after rains.

We apply it using an inexpensive, hand-pressurized plastic garden sprayer.They're available for around $25 at home improvement centers

(More customer reviews)I found this terrific, but filled with a host of problems you won't soon forget. Not even a day passed before my squirrels popped the lid off the top.There is no electricity at the top to stop them. I spent another $20 and quite a few hours and modified the top and wiring to electrify that as well. Thank goodness I am handy. This could prove frustrating if you are not handy, nor clever too. The birds can't get to the seed at the last 2" from the bottom and that quickly rots and drives the birds away.The inside is especially difficult to clean and I needed a long stick to pry out the damp solidified seed and a lot of patience to clean it.A lot of what looks like metal in the photos is silver painted plastic and while I assembled it right from the box I broke the plastic top off and had to return it for another. Don't plan to hand the metal wire bar in the picture over the branch or you will break the top right off.You need to hang this off a wire. The holes for suspending the metal wire bar are especially poorly designed.The battery cover is attached with tiny screws so be prepared to lose them. All of these problems could have easily been remedied by the staff that designed it. What a shame they didn't. Overall its excellent at keeping squirrels away.I was so inundated with sparrows after the squirrels were gone I scratched my head and wondered what have I done?

It is very heavy and needs serious support to hold it up.

(More customer reviews)Like most bird enthusiasts, I'm SO SICK of squirrels.They're always hanging on--and damaging--my feeders, and they deter birds too.And, of course, they devour my seed so I wind up buying 5 pounds of seed, 4 1/2 of which goes to the resident furry-tailed rats!

So I bought this in a move of desperation.If this hadn't worked, I was prepared to take my feeders down--no fewer than SIX squirrels were hanging off of, or under, my feeders, and it's a full time job for me and my dog to keep them away!I can't claim there are NEVER squirrels around my feeders.Since switching to this food, I have yet to see a single squirrel actually hanging from my feeders.They will, however, eat the stuff that's fallen on the ground underneath (I'm sure there's some "old" food down there that they liked too).I've got a decent amount of property, so I've noticed what's also helping is to buy some bulk dried corn to put out for the squirrels elsewhere on the property--the squirrels (AND other, new birds we haven't seen here before!) hang out at the corn, and my feeder is spared the company and damage of squirrel mouths.

I'm pretty pleased.I give it four stars only because the squirrels aren't completely deterred--but they're definitely not hanging on my feeders, and they're definitely not spending nearly as much time here as they were with my old food mix.

(More customer reviews)This feeder is labeled "squirrel proof," but in three weeks, it has been used almost exclusively by squirrels, who cling upside down to the bottom and feed at will! The only bird I've seen use this feeder was a Carolina wren, and that was only once. Nuthatches and woodpeckers check it out but so far have refused to go through the outer cage or access the suet from the bottom. I can probably deter the squirrels by putting a piece of wood on the bottom of the inner cage that holds the suet, but if the birds still won't use the feeder, it will turn out to have been a waste of money.

One month later, it's over 20 dollars. This is six pounds of CORN! Orville Redenbacher costs less and he's selling gourmet stuff. I repeat: this is six pounds of CORN - and it's over 20 dollars! Even before his mouth was strong enough to squeeze the fat octopus's head he enjoyed shaking it around so that the legs would hit him in the face & smack the floor (you know, the way dogs love to shake stuff)! He has tons of squeaky toys, but this is always the one he chooses when someone comes outside to play. It's just great to see him so filled with glee when he bounds around with it in his mouth, or successfully gets it to groan and squeak at the same time, and the rattle makes noise even with the gentlest touch. This toy is probably a dog's dream stuffed toy come true!

We've had this toy for about 2 months now and everything is still in tact despite rigorous use & tug of war. Even the hair on "Mr. Octopus's" head isn't budging. Best dog toy ever!

(More customer reviews)There are 5 different cats that come into our back yard daily to stalk the birds and squirrels that come around to feast on the seeds and peanuts that we leave for them.These cats have decided that our yard is their personal killing field.We have buried several of our little furry and feathered friends.The cats don't eat them, they just kill them.We have spoken to people in the neighborhood in the past, and their attitude is "that's what cats do...deal with it".

Well, I DID deal with it.I ordered the GREEN live animal trap, and one by one, those pests (3 so far, in 3 days) are being relocated.The trap works fabulously!

As for the reviewers that complained about how HARD the trap was to put together, all I can say is that they must have ZERO mechanical aptitude.You take the cage out of the box, pick it up by the handle, and it unfolds and pretty much assembles itself!You then slide one piece into place to lock everything together, and it's completed!The instructions that came with the trap were actually quite good!If you have trouble reading instructions, just look at the pictures.The whole process is quite simple.As for setting the trap, again, the instructions and pictures make it quite simple to understand.

For anyone who has an animal pest problem, this trap is an excellent size for anything from squirrels to cats to racoons, etc.Think twice about leaving it out overnight.Where I live, skunks prowl at night.If you catch one in the trap, You may not have a social life for a while after you let it go!

Highly recommended!!!

(More customer reviews)These sticks aren't a truely horrible product, but they're definately not made for tough or frequent use.They're certainly not for chewers and can't hold up to a lot of use.I own a year old lab mix who played with this outside with me for about 30 minutes before tearing the end of it off.I didn't expect it to be hollow either, which isn't good for long-term use.I would only recomend it to someone if they own a medium sized dog such as a spaniel.

As long as this is placed away from the trees or other structures that the squirrels can launch from, it is impossible for them to get the seed. However, I had to move the feeder from it's location to put in a new deck, and when I tried to put it back, one extension arm broke off as I was trying to put the auger back into the ground. I now have it supported by the remaining two arms wedged under the edge of my deck. Overall an excellent product. I've had this for over a year.

I live on 60 acres in VT and the deer are plentiful around here and I will tell you that Deer Off is the ONLY thing that has worked consistently and completely - though I would suggest applying it a little more often than recommended (I apply it every 3 or 4 weeks depending on how much rain we've had)
