(More customer reviews)I have tried hanging this thing at different lengths and squirrels aren't thrown off. They sit in the tray and eat away. I have it hanging from a shepherd's hook- squirrels either climb the pole and reach for the tray (even if the chain is long like the instructions say) or they climb the fence that is 3 to 4 feet away and jump to it. I really like how much seed this thing holds. If I didn't chase off 13 squirrels or so at a time I would leave it outside. Instead I went to a local store and bought a feeder where the weight of the squirrel pulls a shield over the opening for food. I only saw one squirrel that was smart enough to figure out how to use it's feet and hands to get upside down so he or she didn't close the food opening. If I had more money to spend I would buy the squirrel guard that goes with the Sky Cafe and the optional pole that goes under the feeder as a stand instead of hanging the feeder. For the price of this thing alone I am sorry I bought it. I don't even use it.

(More customer reviews)Works extremely well, to the point that it attracts (and traps) so manyyellowjackets that it unfortunately needs frequent emptying.However, ofall the traps I've tried -- and I've tried a number of them -- this is byfar the easiest to use and clean, and for lower cost than most traps. Note:I suggest using apple juice in the trap.

(More customer reviews)THIS FEEDER HAS A MAJOR & DANGEROUS FLAW.I recently purchased the Fly Thru Metal Gazebo Feeder (3400)and there is a dangerous flaw for small birds!Yesterday an Oregon Junco was behaving oddly at that particular feeder and after a few moments I realized his foot was TRAPPED in the feeder.It was trapped where the metal floor of the platform is folded up in order to hold the seeds.The bird struggled and struggled to get free.When it finally did I went out and took the platform down and saw that there was blood, a lot of blood for such a small bird.I have to wonder if the poor thing even lived through the night.

After I took the feeder down I used aquarium sealant to fill all the gaps.And I have also contacted various suppliers of this feeder to let them know that the manufacturer needs to CLOSELY crimp the 6 floor folds.

Duncraft, who also sells this feeder, was very supportive and the president of their company wrote to the manufacturer!

(More customer reviews)This is a beautifully crafted feeder. I purchased the blue one to match the bird bath in my yard. Unfortunately, it is not squirrel proof. A squirrel knocked it down the very first day, and he either chewed the string or just broke it with his weight. The yellow finches have taken to it, but I found the perching stick on the ground (pesky squirrel again?!) Also, I was disappointed in the hanging apparatus-- one string that you have to figure out how to knot, loop and hang. Again, this is a beautifully crafted feeder, but seems more decorative than functional. For this reason, I regret the $24.99 I spent, since I'm more interested in functional bird feeders.
