(More customer reviews)We have recently had rats in our basement eating everthing. We tried all kinds of traps with no luck. We bought the Victor Electronic rat trap from our local hardware store. It taked 4 c batteries and will last up to about 12 to 20 rats. In the first 24 hours we had caught 4 rats. Two days later we had a total of 6 rats caught. We paid $40.00 plus $5.00 for batteries and it is worth every penny. No meses to clean up, you just just give a little shake and the rat falls into the trash can. Best rat trap ever.

(More customer reviews)This is THE best rat trap I've ever used! I don't have to worry about smashing my fingers by accident while trying to get it into position; to set this one you just step on the back of it (or you can squeeze it with your hand). I don't set it off by accident as I'm trying to maneuver it into position; this one isn't on a hair trigger like the old fashion kind. Meerly jostling it won't set it off. The rat can only approach from the desired side so there is no chance of him being tossed away from the trap as can happen with the old fashion kind. Best of all, there is virtually NO WAY for a rat to get to the bait without setting this thing off - every time! That's because the bait is positioned such that he must press the lever to get to it. It's also positioned such that they never get "kinda" caught. Lastly, those "teeth" pretty much insure that he's not going anywhere.

With the regular trap I had more sprung traps that caught rats. With this trap I got one within the 1st hour of setting it out, over and over and over again! It works!

Agri Zap RZU001 Rat Zapper Ultra Review

(More customer reviews)My family moved into our current house five years ago, and our first autumn here we discovered that our house was a quite popular Fall Resort in the mouse world. :(

In those five years, we've tried a large number of ways to stop this yearly invasion:

- Traditional Traps
They simply didn't work. Either the mouse could eat the bait without triggering the trap, or it would catch the mouse without killing it - which was pretty disgusting. I did find one type of traditional trap that worked, but then it was discontinued.

- Glue Traps
These were basically worthless. Mice would drag them to a new location, but then free themselves without too much trouble.

- Poison
This was a fun solution - I would go into my basement (where I work) and smell a week-dead mouse that I couldn't find.

- "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"
One year I simply didn't bother to try to catch them; I was too exhausted from previous attempts. I figured as long as they stayed hidden, I would ignore their existence. This option didn't go over too well with the wife.

After all this frustration, I figured I would try the Rat Zapper. All I can say is: IT WORKS! I caught 6 mice in the first 48 hours I had it set up, and disposing of the mice and resetting the trap was clean and easy. Best of all, I can use this trap for years to come; it no longer has to be a yearly experiment to see how I can catch our rodent visitors.

Agri Zap RZCOO1 Rat Zapper Classic Review

(More customer reviews)I have been using two Rat Zappers for a few months now, with mixed results. They seem to work most reliably when the batteries are absolutely fresh. In particular, ordinary alkaline batteries seem to be good for one or two kills only. The recommended (and considerably more expensive) lithium batteries last a little longer, but the claim of "3 months or 15 rodent kills" seems to be marketing hype. Even with the optional "Rat Pack," the lethality diminishes rapidly after a few kills. Without absolutely new batteries, I often find the kill light will be flashing but nothing will be in the trap, suggesting that a rat received a non-lethal shock. That is a rodent that has now been trained to never set foot in such a trap again.

What this product desperately needs is an AC adapter, so it can deliver consistently lethal shocks where an outlet is available. Alternatively, some better mechanism for determining when it's time to replace the batteries would be helpful, besides trying to judge spark length or the relative brightness of the LED indicator.

I have found traditional snap traps to be more consistently effective for rat control, though I still use the Rat Zappers in areas where snap traps would be a danger to pets or children. Just be prepared to spend a fortune on batteries.
