(More customer reviews)This feeder is a must for those with healthy populations of finches /and/ squirrels.The feeder itself is very well made of quality materials, from the calibrated moving metal squirrel baffle to the thick, UV-resistant tube and coated metal lid and perches.I also bought the larger "Squirrel Buster Plus" regular feeder through Amazon made by Brome and found it to be equally, if not even more, well made.Both are extremely effective: my neighborhood is older and ringed by dozens of mature Pin Oaks teeming with squirrels.They've had free run of my yard for years (the last owners were definitely not gardeners), pulling open suet cages, burying seeds and acorns everywhere, chattering madly at the dog... and then came the Brome feeders.Both are in easy reach of the ground, and the squirrels can climb the pole, but to no use: the baffles slide down every time and they get squat (instead of fat) from my feeders.Huzzah!I would use these feeders even if I didn't have squirrels, I like the dark green metal finish and slim construction, and I really like not needing extra feeder pole baffles, plastic cones, etc. to keep out the squirrels, who are back to their regular job of eating the seed that falls to the ground. :)
NOTE about shipping:this feeder was shipped "as is" in its original box, a shortcut that I did not appreciate.These feeders are pricey, as other reviewers have noted, and worth it, but they DO contain calibrated springs and moving parts, the product needs to be shipped inside a shipping box.The first Brome feeder I ordered was shipped properly, no idea why this one was not.Luckily it suffered no damage and is an outstanding product in action.

This innovative feeder has a two year warranty against squirrel damage and offers a weight sensitive design crafted to deter larger animals without harming them. A metal mesh shroud surrounds the clear plastic seed tube, creating clinging areas for your birds. Perches at the four bottom ports offer a resting spot for birds, while the four upper ports are accessed by clinging onto the wire. When a larger animal, such as squirrel, lands on the feeder, the shroud lowers over the ports so they are not able to reach the seed. The design of the seed tube also features a ventilation system, which allows warm air and humidity to escape from holes at the top of the feeder, while fresh air enters through the seed ports. This keeps the thistle seed fresh, helping to attract more birds. The tube holds 2.1 pounds of thistle seed for a generous feeding station. A green, metal cap protects the seed from excess moisture and a wire hanger enables the unit to be hung from a bracket or branch.
