(More customer reviews)Hi folks. I don't have spare time to review every product I buy here with over 250 orders in the last year. However, I do feel obligated to mention or warn others when a product fails under normal ordinary conditions.

This bird feeder looks very nice, it holds plenty of bird seed, and I have no problems with the funky lid or filling the feeder. (I don't like the flimsy plastic glass)

I wondered "WHY are the birds completely ignoring this feeder when I clearly see it's still half full of seed? They used to like it. What's the deal?" Hummm.

I quickly discovered the problem. What happens is; every time it rains, the bottom area (tray) gets filled with water and saturates the seed, turning it into a thick muddy paste. At this point, the birds have no interest. After examining the feeder, I noticed the "tray" has little tiny drain holes - not quite the size of lead in a pencil. These drain holes are obviously insufficient. I doubt I can drill the plastic holes larger without breaking the tray.

In summary, I find it surprising that no other reviewers mentioned this problem. Ultimately, my recommendation is to only buy this feeder if you hang it in a dry area, such as in a pavilion, under an eave, or a similar location. For me, it's time to go bird feeder shopping once more.

(More customer reviews)All summer long we had a daily stream of chipmunks, mice, and birds flowing into the house courtesy of our cats, which brought them in through the dog flap. The chipmunks often took up residence under the refrigerator and one was under there so long that I started feeding it, too. I tried for weeks to catch it with the mouse-sized Havahart trap, but it never worked. I finally realized that the chipmunk was probably so large for that trap that when the door shut it never shut entirely because the chipmunk's body was in the way. I went online to see if there was a bigger trap and I found the chipmunk-sized one. I ordered it and within 30 minutes of getting it and setting it up I heard the "Snap" of the trap. Sure enough, I finally had safely trapped the chipmunk. I delivered him to the arboretum across the street, where I hope he lived happily ever after.

(More customer reviews)In my thirty years of birding, this is the first feeder that has beaten our previously undefeated squirrels. It really works! However, if you are buying this feeder for entertainment, forget it. What happens is the squirrels will each get on it ONCE! They will proceed to be thrown off and that is it....they will not try it again, because they know the result. If you really are hoping to see more, you might try having the battery alternate in off/on mode so the squirrels will be confused, but I doubt they will come back.

(More customer reviews)The bird feeder arrived with numerous cracks in the plastic where the hanging mechanism is attached.Also, the spring that closes the feeder is much too rigid allowing, at its lowest setting, for even a heavy crow to land without closing. Obviously, I am not very happy with the purchase though it appeared to be a good idea. It needs much better quality control!
